Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with many awards for her performance which includes an Oscar. She began her career as an actress on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. The actress was deaf in one ear due to mumps but did not let this disability dampen her desire to be an actor. As a teenager She studied acting and eventually moved in New York City. In a chance encounter she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress supporting the lead character of Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, since then she has appeared involved in numerous TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
